How should I wash my cycling apparel?

General instructions:

• Machine wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle with similar colors.
• Avoid fabric softeners, bleach, and harsh detergents—they can degrade technical fabrics.
• Do not tumble dry; air drying preserves fabric performance, elasticity, and fit.
  

By garment type:

Jerseys:

• Wash inside out to protect graphics and fabrics.
• Use a mesh laundry bag if possible.
• Remove immediately after washing to prevent odor buildup.
  

Jackets:

• Close zippers and velcro before washing.
• Avoid ironing; technical membranes can be damaged by heat.

Bib Shorts:

• Wash inside out to protect chamois padding.
• Avoid contact with rough fabrics (denim, Velcro) to prevent pilling.
• Do not wring; gently squeeze out water instead.
  

Can I use a dryer?

No. Tumble drying is not recommended. Excessive heat can reduce elasticity, damage fabric coatings and deform paddings.

Instead, air dry flat or hang in a ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.

Tips for longevity

• Wash after every ride to remove sweat and bacteria.
• Avoid soaking for long periods; prolonged water contact can degrade fabrics.
• Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving damp apparel in a bag for hours.
• Rotate your kit to prevent excessive wear on single pieces.
• Handle zippers and Velcro gently to prevent snags.
  

Tips when traveling

• Packing dirty clothes:
  Roll wet or sweaty items instead of folding—they take up less space and reduce wrinkles.
• Use a separate waterproof bag for dirty apparel to protect other luggage.
• Air out or rinse lightly if possible before packing for multi-day trips.
  
  On the road:

Avoid placing items in hot cars or direct sun for long periods.

Hang overnight if washing is not immediately available.
